How many years have you been snowboarding?
Been snowboarding for about 16 years now, crazy.
What’s your first memory of being on a board?
My Grandpa took me for a lesson on the chairlift when I was like 8, and I remember bailing on the lesson to find my older brother at the tow rope.
Where did you learn to snowboard?
Ski Gull, Minnesota. Place rules!
What was the first trick you ever learned?
I don’t remember my first trick but I remember board sliding a box pretty early on.
What was the first snowboarding video you ever saw?
I actually for the life of me can’t think of the very first one but I had on DVD that I watched religiously was shoot the moon.
Who had the biggest influence on your riding when you were starting out?
Some of the local guys at my mountain for sure, and Joe Sexton cause he was kind of around. I remember really liking everyone in shoot the moon pretty early on like Louif, Danimals, Chris, Jed, Etc.
Who’s your biggest influence now?
Louif comes to mind off the rip. Not just because of his snowboarding but also the way he conducts his life. Also my homies who I ride with every day inspire me all the time. Bmo, Miles, all my homies.
Who do you think is the most underrated or underappreciated snowboarder out there?
That’s a tough one for me, but maybe Denver Orr just cause I still don’t see him getting the appreciation he deserves, but everybody knows how good he is.
What video part do you watch to get hyped before filming?
Blender, Goodsport, Fly away closer, maybe Kazu’s part from stronger, Ojo’s part from landline. Maybe throw on a dustbox flick.
When was the last time you scared yourself snowboarding?
I feel like I scare myself all the time, but the last one I really remember was a street spot, was trying back one on to a big rail and went for an accidental rodeo.
What was the last trick you filmed?
Street was a switch 5050, powder was maybe an off the toes front 7? I kinda forget
It just snowed two feet in a city five hours away. Who’s jumping in the van with you for the road trip?
All my homies would hit the road for 5 feet.
On that trip, you find the perfect down bar. How many stairs is it? What’s your go-to trick—and your dream trick?
Prolly like a good 20-30 stairs, just a nice back lip or a switch board pretz. Dream trick would be switch back 2 maybe I’m not sure, depends on the spot.
It’s going to dump two feet overnight at your local resort. Who are you calling to ride with in the morning?
Bmo, Squid, Miles, Benny Marms.
Describe a perfect day on the board.
Japan, snow cat laps, nobody else around, followed by Ramen and Onsen.
What’s your go-to L1 kit for street and park laps? What about for powder days?
Rankin kit all day. In the streets, powder depends. But usually the Rankin pants and Filmore Jacket.
