Joe Sexton

How many years have you been snowboarding?
About 25 years at this point!

What’s your first memory of being on a board?
I remember jumping off a little bump on my first day snowboarding ever and feeling like I was 20 feet off the ground, a feeling ill never forget and that was the moment I was hooked

Where did you learn to snowboard?
I learned to snowboard at Buck Hill, in Burnsville, MN

What was the first trick you ever learned?
I would guess it was probably little 180s but the first memorable and meaningful trick I remember learning was probably a front board.

What was the first snowboarding video you ever saw?
Technical Difficulties

Who had the biggest influence on your riding when you were starting out?
JP Walker, Neoproto, Love/Hate

Who’s your biggest influence now?
All the young dudes ripping, dustbox crew, team11, Nima Jalali, anybody passionate about what they are doing and making it work for themselves

Who do you think is the most underrated or underappreciated snowboarder out there?
Sam Anderson, Quin Ellul, Kyle Kennedy

What video part do you watch to get hyped before filming?
Justin Hebbel parts, anything new that just dropped, Jon Stark projects.

When was the last time you scared yourself snowboarding?
I feel like I get pretty scared every time I go try to film something!

What was the last trick you filmed?
It was quick little line in France this season filming for the 32 video

It just snowed two feet in a city five hours away. Who’s jumping in the van with you for the road trip?
Dream crew? Danimals, Darrell Mathes, Jake Kuzyk, with Meyer on the lens, Bob Plumb on photos

On that trip, you find the perfect down bar. How many stairs is it? What’s your go-to trick—and your dream trick? Maybe 30 stairs?
Dream trick would be something I have never done on down rail, off the top of my head im saying sw back 270

It’s going to dump two feet overnight at your local resort. Who are you calling to ride with in the morning?
Brady Lem, Tommy Gesme, Danimals, anyone who wants to shred!

Describe a perfect day on the board.
Good energy, everything is kinda clicking, maybe film a couple things. Kit is feeling good. Ride all day and be exhausted after and then enjoy a nice cold beverage after.

What’s your go-to L1 kit for street and park laps? What about for powder days?
For street its either the Dixon pant or the Rankin pant, maybe mess with the camo print from time to time for flavor. Paired with aftershock puffy for shoveling a spot and then losing that when its time to board. For park its pretty similar. Dixon pant or Rankin pant, and the Rankin jacket to warm up with. Cant beat it!
